When Trent and Hadley reached out for their engagement session, they wanted a mix of classic elegance blended with Colorado vibes. I met these two through having photographed one of their friend’s weddings; I was ecstatic to photograph their engagement photos! From Cheesman Park to Don’s Tavern, their session took us around the city and was the perfect blend of backdrops.

We started at Roxborough Park, known for its towering red rock formations that make for a dramatic and rugged backdrop. The contrast between the earthy tones of the rocks and the bright Colorado sky was stunning.

Afterward, we took a break and headed to Don’s Tavern, an unexpected but totally fun stop. It gave the session a relaxed, personal feel—capturing them laughing over drinks, soaking in the moment. It’s a spot the couple frequents, so I love that they wanted to incorporate it into their engagement photos.

If you’re looking to add variety to your engagement session, taking a page from Trent and Hadley’s shoot is a great way to bring your own story to life across different landscapes. Why Cheesman Park is a Hidden Gem for Engagement Photos

Let’s get into the good stuff—why Cheesman Park is a standout location for engagement photos. First off, you’ve got options. Whether you want a romantic, nature-filled vibe or a more architectural look with the pavilion’s neoclassical columns, this park checks both boxes.

The lush greenery? Perfect for those intimate, natural moments. The Pavilion? A dream for that sophisticated, timeless look. Plus, it’s all right here in Denver. No long drives, no complicated permits, just a beautiful spot ready to be your backdrop.

Cheesman Park’s Hidden Corners

One of the things I love most about this park is how versatile it is. Sure, the Pavilion gets a lot of love (and for good reason), but don’t sleep on the lesser-known corners of Cheesman Park. The tree-lined pathways are perfect for those candid, in-between moments. And if you’re willing to wander a bit, there are quiet spots tucked away from the main paths where you can get those private, intimate shots that feel like you’re miles away from the city.

Best Times to Shoot at Cheesman Park

Timing is everything. If you’re looking for that dreamy, soft light, I recommend shooting during the golden hour. In Cheesman Park, this happens roughly an hour before sunset, when the light is low, warm, and just magical. Morning sessions also work wonders, especially if you want to avoid the crowds. Either way, the natural light here creates an ethereal, almost cinematic quality that makes every shot feel like a story. We planned Trent & Hadley’s engagement session on a weekday. As a result, we had minimal crowds while frolicking around Cheesman park.

Wrapping Up: Why Cheesman Park Denver CO is the Perfect Spot

Whether you’re after the elegance of the Pavilion, the peacefulness of the open lawns, or the charm of its hidden corners, Cheesman Park is a place that brings out the best in every couple. For Trent and Hadley, it was the ideal location to wrap up their session, offering a timeless backdrop that contrasted beautifully with the natural and relaxed vibes of our earlier stops. From sunrise to sunset, Cheesman Park delivers on every front, giving you endless options for a romantic backdrop. So if you’re planning your engagement session, keep this Denver gem at the top of your list. Trust me, you won’t regret it. Contact me to learn more about engagement photos!
